ABOUT CHANDIGARH
Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh situated at the foothills of Shivalik Hills, proud itself for being the most modern and well planned city of India. Chandigarh was conceived as a city of “Sun, space and Verdure” to fulfill four basic functions of living, working, circulation and care of body and spirit. Chandigarh is often called the “City Beautiful” or the “Garden City”-both fond epithets given to it by its residents. A major feature of Chandigarh is its Leisure Valley, which, like a garland of gardens, ornaments the city from one end to the other. The most famous gardens are Garden of Tranquility, Garden of Rare Plants, Garden of Annuals, the Bougainvillea Garden and the world famous unique fantasy of the art Rock Garden created by Shri Nek Chand has become a heritage site. Sukhana, a man made lake that attracts migratory birds. The refreshing Rose Garden with over 1600 rose varieties is the largest in Asia.
A visit to Chandigarh is not complete without a visit to the temple of Goddess Chandi (10 kms). Chattbir Zoo (15km), Pinjor Garden (20kms), Morni Hills (45kms), Kasauli (77kms), Chail (107 kms) and Shimla (110kms) are some of the interesting places to visit around Chandigarh.
HOW TO REACH CHANDIGARH
By Air- Chandigarh is connected to Delhi (daily) and Amritsar (bi-weekly) by flights of Indian Airlines etc. The airport is 6 km away from venue.
By Rail- The railway station is 5 km away from the venue. It is well connected to the major cities of India.
By Road- Chandigarh is well connected by road to almost every small and big town in northern India.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE
Government College, Sector- 46 is a fast emerging institution of higher learning in the city of Chandigarh. Established in 1982 it has made rapid strides in academic excellence, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Over the years, it has added new courses and streams to the list of courses like the vocational courses- Advertising and sales promotion, BBA, BCA, M.Com. are adding new dimensions of college profile.
